![]() If you want to be able to equip your mercenary and have them travel between acts with you, you could convert your character to an Expansion character to take advantage of all the Expansion Pack features. So I think your character is a classic pre-expansion character. I did confirm that the option for “O” Mercenary screen does NOT show up in controls for classic characters, but does for Expansion characters. This same blue flag will appear next to a character you create, so you should be able to quickly determine if your character is classic from the character selection screen. That blue flag is a toggle button to allow you to choose, although I thought it was “off” by default. When you create your character, did you happen to choose the “blue flag” with “II” symbol on it as shown in this image? That would create a per-expansion character. Similarly you could create a new character and choose to play the base original, “classic” game.įast forward to Diablo II: Resurrected and it includes the LoD Expansion as the single game, but it still allows you to choose a “pre-expansion” or expansion character when creating your character. If you had the original game, then purchased LoD, you could chose to start a new character as an expansion character, or you could convert your existing non-expansion character to expansion. “Classic” refers to the base game, without the LoD expansion package.
